What’s been going on

The snow is coming down here in New England today. They’re calling for 6 to 8″ and I don’t want to go out and remove snow. It’s been a strange autumn so far. Lots of snow and bitter cold are usually January weather, but Mother Nature decided to surprise us this year.

NaNoWriMo is in full swing. I’m about a day and a half behind in word count. I took a weekend off to head back to my old stomping grounds of State College to meet up with very close college friends and go to the football game. PSU won, we shopped and I’m restocked with PSU gear, we ate a lot of good food, and there was a lot of wine consumed.  It was a great weekend and worth falling behind in word count.

Chasing Destiny has been out now for two months. It’s hard to believe that it’s only been that long. Feels like forever since it came out.

We’re both hard at work on the next books. Dani is editing a book with a new immortal with guest appearances by Damianos and Akantha. I’m plugging away at a new book with vampires and vampire hunters for NaNo. I’m two days behind in word count, but hope to make those words up this week.

Thanksgiving is two days away and I wanted to say I’m thankful for my co-author Dani, my daughter, my dogs, my friends, and my family.

Dani and I are thankful for READERS! & so are 29 other amazing authors! To show our appreciation, we’re hosting a 30 ebook giveaway from 11/19-11/23. Just click the Rafflecopter link & do as many entries as you want!

I’m offering a sneak peek at a NA book we have completed and we’re waiting to hear back from our publisher. Here’s the first chapter:

Goodbye October, Hello NaNoWriMo!

Greetings and Happy Halloween!

There’s only a few hours left in October. Kids and adults are out trick-or-treating and we’re inside getting ready for the kickoff of NaNoWriMo. We’re stocked up on tea and coffee and ready to get to work!

NaNoWriMo is National Novel Writing Month and is a challenge to write 50,000 words in 30 days. Sydney is a Municipal Liaison and organizes write-ins for her region in southern Maine. We both started NaNo way back in 2004 and still do it to this day. Our released novel Chasing Destiny was a NaNoWriMo novel. This year Sydney is starting a new project and Dani will be working on our next adult novel.

We are in a cover contest with Chasing Destiny. If you haven’t voted yet, please do so here: http://www.indtale.com/polls/creme-de-la-cover-contest

Our next novel, a New Adult novel, has been submitted to our publisher. We’re keeping our fingers crossed that they’ll pick it up and publish it.

Sydney will be selling books and signing them at the Lebanon craft fair this weekend. It’ll be her first time out selling and signing.

Want to give us an early Christmas gift? Leave us a review of Chasing Destiny on Amazon or Goodreads. Amazon’s algorithms are based on the number of reviews. The more reviews we have, the better our books get out there, so please leave a review.

Moving along

The seasons are moving along up here in New England. The trees are beautiful with their yellows, reds, and oranges and once in awhile we get a perfect sunny day to enjoy the autumn colors. Most days are cloudy, on the cold side, and damp. Today we had snow mixed with rain.

The seasons aren’t the only thing moving along, but Dani and I are moving along with our next books. One has been submitted to our publisher for consideration. It’s a New Adult and features new characters, but Akantha and Damianos make appearances. We’re also working on editing the next TWO books. One is an adult novel with two new characters and the other is the next book in the New Adult series.

NaNoWriMo starts in less than a week and that means we’ll both be working on new books. It’s been a productive year so far and looks to be finishing strong.

It’s real!

Since we received the offer to publish the book until the final edits and finalizing the cover, I’ve always said that this didn’t feel real and wouldn’t until I had the book in my hands. Today it became real!

Countdown to release!

We’re two weeks away from our book release!  It’s still unreal. For me (Syd) it’ll be real when I hold a copy in my hands.  We both set up our Amazon Author pages and our Goodreads pages so please check them out and spread the word!

We’ve been busy with doing advertising for the book and prepping for the release.  On Nov 3, Sydney will be at the Lebanon, ME Craft Fair selling and signing copies of Chasing Destiny.

We have a newsletter that goes out once a month. If you sign up for the newsletter before the end of September, you’ll be entered to win one of the four giveaways we’re doing.  We’re going to be giving away two signed copies of Chasing Destiny and two signed copies of Laurie MacAllister’s The Lies the Poets Tell.  This month’s newsletter contains the first chapter from our book.

We’ve both been busy working on more books. Dani is editing our next one. This one is a New Adult book and features new characters, but Akantha and Damianos make appearances in it.  We have two others that are done and need to go through rounds of edits.

The changing of seasons

It’s hard to believe that summer is winding down and autumn is almost here. Despite the hot weather in New England,  traces of color are already starting to appear in the leaves.  The sun is now setting earlier and rising later. Kids are returning to school and we’re less than 30 days out from the release of Chasing Destiny!  It still seems a little surreal, but it’s exciting at the same time.

Sydney will have a table set up at her town’s craft fair and be selling and signing books. It will be her first public appearance as a published author.

To celebrate the release of Chasing Destiny in September we will be hosting a giving away for folks signed up for our mailing list.  Two random people will receive a signed copy of Chasing Destiny signed by both of us and two people will receive a signed copy of Laurie MacAllister’s cd The Lies the Poets Tell.  This is an amazing cd filled with songs about love and where we found “A Reckoning of Us” which is the song we are giving away free with subscription to our newsletter.

If you want to sign up for our newsletter go to: https://mailchi.mp/969d2be7739c/nicholsandashcroft

While we’re launching Chasing Destiny, we’re working on the next few books.  We have a New Adult book in the works along with an Adult book in the works.  Both expand on the universe we created with Immortals and other supernatural types. These feature new characters, but Akantha and Damianos do make appearances.
